iLoveInns.com just announced their list of the 2021 Top 10 Best Romantic Inns. Five Gables Inn is excited and thrilled to be included on this prestigious list. The list is created after the I Love Inns staff researches and considers the nominations from fans of bed and breakfasts. iLoveInns.com president, Deborah Sakach says “this list always makes me think of all the couples who are strengthening and rejuvenating their love through a romantic getaway.” Five Gables Inn is humbled to know that we have been part of what keeps loving couples together for many years.
There have been only a handful of owners of Five Gables Inn since it was built in 1896. When we purchased the property in 2012, we committed ourselves to carrying on its legacy of friendliness and thoughtful amenities. It is our goal for every guest to feel welcome from the moment they walk through our doors. Our inn feels like a home away from home where guests can relax while they explore the scenic town of East Boothbay. We offer views of the Maine coast from the guest rooms and the breakfast table. We invite guests to linger by a crackling fire while enjoying fresh baked treats from the kitchen.

Many of our guest and common rooms offer distinctive romantic amenities:
- Three guest rooms have working fireplaces. We provide the wood. All you need to do is light the fire and then sit back and listen to the crackles of the flames.
- Wicker furniture and wainscotting add to a coastal cottage décor that adds a sense of coziness.
- Art including a trompe l’oiel fireplace or clouds on the ceiling add distinction and whimsy. The couple that laughs together, stays together.
- Leave the curtains open to wake to the glow of natural light on the face of your lover in the morning.
- Enjoy views of the water without lifting your head from the pillow in the smallest room of the inn.
- Choose a book from our plentiful selection and spend an evening reading aloud to each other.
- Venture out to the porch to swing hand-in-hand on a hammock on a breezy afternoon.
