Five Gables Policies

Policy Updates Related to Covid-19

We want to assure you that the health and safety of our guests and staff is our top priority.  Although we are looking forward to a return to more normal times, our focus on the health and safety of our guests and staff will continue to be our top priority as we head into 2023. In 2020 we implemented a number of new policies and changes in service at the inn. We are happy to report that these changes were successful and that we have had no Covid related issues.

For the 2023 season we do not intend to let up on these precautions and will continue these same policies and the same attention to detail when it comes to cleaning, social distancing and breakfast service this season. Below are additional policies and changes to our normal procedures that you can expect to see when you stay with us at the Five Gables Inn. Our hope is that these changes will enhance our guests’ safety and make everyone feel more comfortable while staying with us during these uncertain times. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us and we will work with you to make sure your stay at the Five Gables Inn is everything you hoped it would be.

Update For Summer Travel To Maine

Maine had very proactive policies for dealing with Covid-19 during the pandemic. These policies allowed for travel and tourism and also worked well to keep our infection rates among the lowest in the country. With the recent improvement in infection rates and the roll out of vaccination programs our policies were recently updated for the upcoming 2023 travel season. As policies continue to change, we will update this information. In the meantime the Maine CDC provides additional information online at: “Keep Maine Healthy”.

Maine Covid Travel Policy:

  • Maine will exempt visitors from all US states from any COVID-19 travel policy requirements, unless otherwise determined by the Maine CDC in the future.
  • Masks will not be required indoors or outdoors.
  • All capacity limits and requirements to physically distance in all public indoor venues or outdoor settings will be lifted.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 207-633-4551 or email us at info@fivegablesinn.com. We look forward to seeing you soon and want you to know that we will do everything possible to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICE:

Food has always been an important part of the Five Gables experience and it will continue to be. Susan has been adamant that we have to maintain the quality our guests have come to expect and that as always, everything that comes out of her kitchen will be made from scratch.

Breakfast: We will serve a multi course breakfast each morning,  which may be enjoyed outdoors on our porch or indoors in front of the fire place. Additionally to reduce congestion and provide additional space, guests will be asked to select one of our designated seating times.  For those early risers, coffee will be available in the Common Room beginning at 6:30 am.

Afternoon Refreshments: Served daily from 3 to 6pm. Afternoon refreshments, including Susan’s homemade cookies, will be served by our kitchen staff.

GENERAL CLEANING / PROPERTY INFORMATION

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be located at all entry doors and additionally at the top of the stairs on each floor.
  • Windows will remain open as much as possible to allow for an increase in fresh air and a new air purification system will be operating in the common room and front desk area.
  • Disposable masks will be available upon request.
  • Staff members will be doing extra rounds of sanitizing high touch points like the handrails, door knobs and common area furniture and guest bathroom.

ARRIVALS / CHECK-IN

  • Check-in will begin at 3pm to give our team time to clean, sanitize and prepare the inn for your arrival.
  • To help reduce contact between staff and guests, check-ins will be contact free.
  • Prior to your arrival the remaining balance of your reservation will be charged to the credit card on file and the receipt will be emailed. If you prefer to have your remaining lodging balance charged to a different card, please let us know in advance.

DEPARTURES / CHECK-OUT

  • Check out time is 11:00am.
  • To reduce contact, guests should check out by simply dropping off their key at the front desk.

HOUSEKEEPING

In order to provide our staff and guests with the safest possible environment, we are making some changes to how our rooms are set up and cleaned during your stay. Some of the changes you will notice:

  • Certain items have been removed from guest rooms such as magazines and glasses in order to reduce surfaces on which the virus could be spread.
  • Whenever possible, prior to guest arrival, windows will be left open to provide for additional fresh air.
  • Disinfectant cleaners and Lysol spray will be used throughout each bedroom and bathroom.

Daily Housekeeping: To further reduce the potential for guest/staff contact, we will offer limited daily housekeeping this year. Housekeeping staff will only enter occupied guest rooms to remove trash and replace used towels and amenities. To reduce contact staff will not move or straighten up personal items, clothing or bedding while guests are in residence.

These are challenging and stressful times and being able to get away and still feel safe is probably more important than ever before. Please know that the above list is a start and that we will continue to work with our partners, trade associations and state agencies to improve our policies as new and better ideas become available. Also know that as always, we are hands on around the inn and ready to help make your stay the perfect getaway that everyone needs right now. In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. We really are all in this together.

Best,
Ryan
