The Changing Leaves Are Still Gorgeous

Published: September 11, 2020
In many ways it may feel as though the world has stopped, however, someone forgot to tell the leaves. The Fall Foliage Prediction Map has been released and it is the perfect tool for planning your autumn getaway. The leaves are just starting to change and the map can show you when to expect peak color across the country.

Immerse yourself in vibrant red, sunny yellow, dazzling orange, and luminous gold as you explore Boothbay in September and October. The exquisite beauty is like nothing else especially against the backdrop of the water. Be sure to leave lots of room on your phone or camera for all of the photos you’ll be sure to take.

The Boothbay Harbor area is open for visitors. Restaurants are offering outdoor dining and takeout. Want dinner with a view? Enjoy your meal on our porch that overlooks the bay. Retail stores are following safety precautions yet shoppers can browse galleries and gift shops. The state of Maine has a lot of outdoor space (the best place to see the colorful leaves, of course) and state parks, trails, and historical sites are ready for visitors.

While we believe that you can bask in the beauty of Boothbay for your entire stay, we know that some people like to explore. There are so many scenic drives near our area. Make our inn your home base for your travels throughout Maine. This site has suggested routes with handy maps for your fall foliage journeys. We especially suggest the following routes:

  • The 141-mile Coastal Route through the Mid Coast Region is closest to us and boasts quaint fishing villages and Mount Battie.
  • The Belgrade Drive in the Augusta/Kennebec Region is a short hour away. You’ll get to see the state capital and the Winthrop and Belgrade Lakes regions.
  • If you’re ready to explore 2+ hours away, try the Castine and Penobscot Bay Loop or the Acadia National Park Loop Road. Both are located in the Acadia/Bar Harbor/Down East Region. The Katahdin Loop in the Katahdin Moosehead Region and The Northern Tour in the Aroostook Region are also within a couple hours of our inn.

This is your chance to explore the beauty of Maine. Vacationers from Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont can visit without restrictions. Guests from other states are also welcome as long as they quarantine or present negative results. That sounds like a great excuse to take an extended getaway.

The trees aren’t the only thing showing off around here. Our inn is very excited to be presented with a Travelers’ Choice Award from Tripadvisor. We are so pleased to be given this honor. We are even more delighted because this award is because of you. It warms our hearts that our guests enjoy their stays enough to submit positive reviews on travel sites. We cannot wait to continue to provide you with the exceptional service that has earned these numerous great reviews. New friends are invited to come join us to see what the fuss is all about. Old friends are welcome to visit again for another amazing getaway.
